Quick firing light field howitzer with spring recoil system, single-motion wedge breech mechanism, traverse on pivot. It used the carriage of the sold in Switzerland in 1912. It was introduced into the German Army in mid-October 1916 and mass production began in March 1917.

The howitzer could fire with 10 different charges. It could fire also an incendiary shell (10,5cm Brandgranate) and a 12.5 kg star shell (Leuchtgeschoss L/3,3).
